On the retina display MacBooks, the RAM is soldered to the logic board and cannot be replaced

Just wanted owners to know, because you can feel really good about owning these laptops knowing that upgrades with quality components should be very easy to do and should work really well, extending the life of the laptop and giving better performance from the next boot-up.Ĩ GB of RAM is installed as two 4 GB modules, no slots free.ĪDDING OVER THE 8GB CAPACITY WILL VOID APPLE WARRANTY AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED BY THEM

The whole job took 10 minutes and made a HUGE difference to the performance cf. I sense already that they will run a lot faster.Ī little while ago, I replaced the original spinning hard-drive (which was operating too slowly for my liking) with a 500Gb Samsung 850, and that worked perfectly, too.įull of enthusiasm for the above, we've just replaced another original drive from a friend's mid 2012 MacBook Pro, with a 1Tb Samsung 850 and that worked perfectly, too. It even boots up faster but I haven't used heavy applications yet. My CPU temperature is usually at 35-45° Celsius when browsing on chrome and goes up to 70-90° Celsius when running games like Stardew Valley.Just letting people know that I've successfully upgraded the RAM on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro - from 8Gb (2 of 4 Gb Hynix sticks fitted ex the factory) to 16Gb (2 of GSkill 8Gb sticks) of DDR3 1600 RAM. I also got my battery replaced after 1180 cycles, and did a bit of cleaning. Do you guys know how many grams I need? And if need any thermal pads or just paste? (I heard some sort of integrity test somewhere but I can't find any trace of it)Īlso I'm planning on replacing my 10 y/o thermal paste, I have a 2.5 Ghz Dual Core Intel I5. But the mouse and everything else moves fast, is that my internet?Īnd do you guys know of a way I can test my RAM if it will last?

Before (at 6GB) I could have 2 windows 10+ tabs each and little to no lag, now opening up a few tabs at once lags chrome.

Hi guys! I have a 13 Inch MacBook Pro Mid 2012, I just recently upgraded it to 16 GB but it feels the same as before, and sometimes it's slower when I use chrome.
